Background: The award winning (hidden gem winner, Scotsman Food and Drink Awards) family-run Greek restaurant Spitaki on East Claremont Street are collaborating over three nights on an exciting kitchen crossover with the acclaimed international private chef Barry Bryson (whose clients include some of the world’s most famous international luxury brands alongside key Edinburgh cultural venues and corporations). As well as being a firm fixture on the Edinburgh dining scene for 15 years Barry also joined forces to work with Nigel Slater on Toast in 2018 and represented Scotland in 2019 on a series of events in Montevideo, Uruguay (to showcase modern British cooking)
Both great friends and neighbours, Barry and Robin (Barry’s partner) cooked for Spitaki's Nina and Christos on their wedding day in 2018. The aim of the crossover is for Barry and Spitaki owner and head chef Christos to create an evening of combined elements and ideas and deliver a dining experience befitting the Athens of the North.
Menu: a five part menu comprising Greek/Scottish cooking, expect dishes to feature slow cooked borders Lamb, Octopus and St Brides stunning award winning poultry as well as modern takes on Greek Salad and Portokalopita.
Cost: £45 per person with a welcome drink for the 5 course menu
Dietaries: gluten-free, vegetarian and pescatarian diners can enjoy alternative courses, but you must advise us at the point of booking
Drinks: You can order all your drinks, wine and ouzo tableside with the team on the night.
Social Distancing: owing the to the unique layout of the mezzanine and corner booths at Spitaki all full social distancing measures will be in place each night, as per the normal protocol at Spitaki. FOH team will wear face coverings, we ask all guests to arrive really punctually for your booking to avoid queuing at the door, sanitise your hands at the station on arrival and observe social distancing practice with the other diners.
